The Los Angeles Professional Chapter is assisting a local LA architectural non-profit, OACLA, with one of their projects. Open Architecture Collaborative Los Angeles (OACLA) is an organization that aims to deliver design and architectural services to marginalized communities by working with them to improve their environment.
We will be helping with OACLA’s SUPRMARKT project. SUPRMARKT is a non-profit that addresses the issue of food deserts in the South LA community and brings healthy, inexpensive food to communities that wouldn’t otherwise have access to it. They have finally been able to secure a brick-and-mortar location that they are renovating to include a full commercial kitchen, cafe space, outdoor space, and administrative offices to run the non-profit. OACLA has been working to provide a set of design drawings for this scope to be reviewed and approved by the City of LA so construction can begin. The LA Professional Chapter will be providing design quality assurance support and professional liability insurance for OACLA’s architectural & MEP drawings.
We are happy to assist OACLA with such an amazing project and hope this will lead to a long-lasting partnership on future projects in LA.
